A Marion County man, 29-year-old Brandon Sizemore of Flippin, has been charged with a felony count of aggravated assault following an altercation last week in which he is alleged to have shot a second man, 34-year-old Dereck Robinson, in the face.According to the probable cause affidavit filed late Wednesday afternoon, officers from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Flippin Police Department responded to a reported shooting Friday along Marion County Road 6064.

Officers learned Robinson had been transported by private vehicle to Baxter Regional Medical Center, and Sizemore was reportedly in a garage at the scene with several weapons.

A Marion County Sheriff’s investigator found Robinson at BRMC with a lump on the right side of his forehead, with two small cuts on the left side of his face near his left eye.

Robinson told the investigator he had gone to see Sizemore and his grandmother and noticed his camper trailer and truck parked at the Flippin residence had been broken into. Robinson said he went to the garage door of the residence where Sizemore was. Sizemore allegedly told him to hang on a minute but never answered the door.

When there was no answer, Robinson went to the residence and checked on Sizemore’s grandmother who had just been released from the hospital. He then returned to the garage, knocking on the door several times with no answer.

Robinson said there were a few exchanges of words, and the next thing he knew Sizemore placed the muzzle of a “.22 caliber long gun” against the glass in the door and pulled the trigger shooting him in the face.

Robinson ran from the door, telling his girlfriend sitting in her vehicle with two infant children to call for help because he had been shot.

Meanwhile, Sizemore was taken into custody without further incident. He told the investigator at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office he did not shoot anyone in the face.

He told the officer Robinson had been stealing from him, he located the property and went to retrieve it. He said Robinson came to his garage banging and yelling wanting him to come out. He said he was afraid Robinson would break the garage door by kicking it so he took a weapon and shot toward the top of the door in an effort to stop the altercation.

Sizemore was transported back to the residence where he signed a consent to search order allowing law enforcement to retrieve the weapon.

His bond was set at $25,000.
