3 officers hurt in Arkansas standoff released from hospital

HACKETT, Ark. (AP) – Three police officers who were wounded during a standoff
with a man in western Arkansas have been released from the hospital.

The standoff started late Monday in Hackett, about 125 miles (200 kilometers)
northwest of Little Rock. According to the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office,
the three deputies were hit by buckshot pellets when they were trying to
establish a perimeter. They are now on paid medical leave.

The sheriff’s office says the standoff ended early Tuesday when 48-year-old
Peter Boden was fatally shot after he stepped out of a pickup truck holding a
shotgun.

According to the sheriff’s office, the three wounded officers are members of
the county’s SWAT team.
