AR mom convicted in daughter’s death

A Stone County mother has been found guilty of first degree murder in the death of her 4-year-old daughter. A jury convicted 29-year-old Victoria Dycus in the death of her daughter Skylar Shellstrom on Friday. Dycus received a sentence of 19 years in prison.

Acccording to KARK and KATV news, in November 2016, Stone County deputies received a call from Dycus saying the 4-year-old was not breathing. She later died at a local hospital, where the medical examiner ruled her death a homicide. According to the death certificate, abuse was evident, with the body showing signs of having been struck with a blunt force object and bruising in multiple stages of healing.

The night Shellstrom died, she was with Dycus and her boyfriend, James Hagen Glenn, at a residence in Mountain View. Both Dycus and Glenn were arrested and charged with first degree murder. While Dycus has been convicted, Glenn is still awaiting his trial. According to police, both are being held on a $1 million bond.
