Edmond Gary Crow of Mountain Home couldn’t catch a break last Friday. First, he failed a court-ordered drug test and was sent to jail for violating his probation. Then, after arriving at the Baxter County Detention Center, jailers discovered Crow had brought methamphetamine into the lockup, apparently not trusting to leave it with another person, and was hit with a charge of furnishing prohibited articles and with possessing the drug.Crow was ordered to take the drug test last Thursday during an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court. The 41-year-old Crow entered a guilty plea to the new charge, which was only formally filed Monday, as well as two older cases also involving methamphetamine.Judge Gordon Webb sentenced Crow to 10 years in prison.

In one of those cases, police stopped Crow in February for having an expired license plate, and he was found to have methamphetamine and paraphernalia for ingesting the drug in his possession.

The other case involving Crow began with a bicycle versus patrol car pursuit in late August last year. The incident began when a Mountain Home police officer saw Crow riding a bicycle at Third and Main. The officer believed Crow to have an outstanding warrant and wanted to stop him. But when Crow saw the officer, he began pedaling faster and cutting between businesses in an attempt to elude the officer.

The officer then saw Crow’s bicycle next to some bushes and found Crow hiding in those bushes. A black magnetic box containing about 14.5 grams of a substance field-testing positive for methamphetamine was found. When arrested, Crow first said he knew nothing of the box or the drug and denied he had been trying to elude police.
