(AP) – A federal judge has set a hearing for next week on a request to again block Arkansas’ restriction on how abortion pills can be administered.
That comes days after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the state to enforce the law.
U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker on Friday scheduled a June 8 hearing on Planned Parenthood’s motion to halt the law. That law says doctors who provide abortion pills must hold a contract with a physician with admitting privileges at a hospital who agrees to treat any complications.
Justices on Tuesday rejected a Planned Parenthood appeal to reinstate Baker’s earlier order blocking the law. Planned Parenthood says the law, if allowed to stand, effectively ends medication abortions in Arkansas.
