Local Cal Ripken teams begin state tournament play with victories

Some local Cal Ripken baseball teams began state tournament play on Friday, and all with victories.

Mountain Home’s ten-year-olds were successful in their two pool games as they began hosting the North Arkansas State Tournament. The Sharks began by shutting out Pocahontas 20-0, and they later defeated Jonesboro 16-5.

The Mountain Home 12-year-olds won both of their games of pool play in the North Arkansas State Tournament at Rogers. The local team edged out Bentonville 9-7, and they later blanked Rogers 10-0.

Mountain Home’s two eight-year-old teams grabbed wins in the North Arkansas State Tournament at Harrison.
The Naturals picked up where they left off after winning the district title nearly two weeks ago. The Nats beat up on Rogers 21-2, and they later routed the Harrison A’s 14-1.
Another Mountain Home team began on a winning note. The All-Stars topped the Harrison All-Stars by a final of 19-12.
