A woman with a lamp strapped to her head was one of two Baxter County residents arrested on drug charges early Friday morning. According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, 27-year-old Tyler Wheeler and 27-year-old Patricia Wheeler were transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and booked on felony counts of possession of controlled substances and probation violation. Bond for each was set at $5,000 on the drug charge, but they remain incarcerated on the probation violation.

A deputy was dispatched just after 12:30 Friday morning to the area of Mallard Run Drive in response to a complaint of an ATV with two occupants and no lights going up and down the roadway. After the deputy arrived, he reportedly observed an ATV traveling on County Road 987. A woman with a lamp strapped to her head was the driver, and a male passenger was holding a flashlight. The deputy stopped the ATV and detained the occupants, later identified as Patricia and Tyler Wheeler. Both are on active supervised probation with Arkansas Community Corrections and have search waivers on file.

The deputy instructed Tyler Wheeler to step off the ATV. Tyler Wheeler allegedly attempted to drop a small plastic baggie. The deputy picked it up, and Patricia Wheeler reportedly attempted to grab the baggie out of his hand. It contained nearly 1.9 grams of methamphetamine. After the Wheelers were taken into custody, a further search of the area uncovered a small plastic bottle on the ground between the ATV and the patrol car. The bottle allegedly contained ten Clonazepam pills and approximately another 4/10 of a gram of methaphetamine.

The Wheelers are set to appear Thursday in Baxter County Circuit Court. Their ATV was found to have its serial number removed, and it has also been seized pending further investigation.
