The state has moved to dismiss charges against a Yellville man involved in a physical altercation last December with weapons present and possible shots fired at a scene along North Estes Street in Yellville involving nine individuals.

Online court records indicate an order from Judge Gordon Webb was filed Thursday to nolle pros two felony charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening, as well as misdemeanors of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and careless and prohibited driving against 24-year-old Justin Sheline.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Sheline and 47-year-old Steven Sheline of St. Joe were arrested after an officer arrived on the scene, exited his patrol car with his weapon drawn and began issuing verbal commands to those present to get on the ground with their hands in front of them.

As he approached the nine individuals, he noticed a male holding an over-sized combination wrench. As he assessed the others for further weapons, he placed two individuals under arrest, Steven Sheline and Justin Sheline.

As he placed Steven Sheline in handcuffs, he noticed he had several red and purple bruises on his back and lower torso but he declined any examination or treatment.

After interviewing the nine individuals, it was determined four males and one female had arrived at the residence to speak with a second female. Shortly after the five arrived, Steven and Justin Sheline drove up. An altercation ensured and expanded to include two other females.

The officer reported it is unclear if Steven Sheline was pulled from his vehicle or exited on his own. Sheline armed himself with an over-sized combination wrench and began to swing it at the males as they approached him. He struck one of the males on the left side of his face resulting in minor injuries.

As the altercation continued, Justin Sheline put his vehicle in reverse, backed it out of the yard at a high rate of speed nearly striking one of the females. In the process, his vehicle struck two other vehicles.

Following the collisions, he allegedly placed his vehicle in drive and attempted to ram those attacking Steven Sheline several times, striking one of the males in the vehicle. After striking the male in the knee, he exited his vehicle and entered the residence. He returned with a toy gun, which he brandished towards those engaged in the altercation with Steven Sheline while making verbal threats.

Knowing one of those in the altercation with Steven Sheline usually carries a weapon in his vehicle, Justin Sheline returned to the residence and replaced the toy gun in a toy box.

As the altercation continued, Steven Sheline armed himself with a second over-sized combination wrench, as other officers arrived on the scene.

Further investigation indicates the dispute originated over the alleged shooting of a dog by one of the four males first to arrive at the Yellville residence.

Steven Sheline was evaluated by Yellville First Responders and transported to North Arkansas Medical Center in Harrison.

Steven Sheline was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor counts of terroristic threatening and disorderly conduct. Online court records indicate his jury trial was canceled on June 27th.
