The manhunt for a man whom authorities said was armed and dangerous in Douglas County is over. Forty-three-year-old Dustin Huff had eluded law enforcement officers ten days before turning himself in at the Douglas County Jail in Ava Monday evening.

Douglas County officials say they responded to a “very violent” domestic assault June 30th in which the victim, Huff’s girlfriend, suffered severe injuries and had to be hospitalized. Huff fled into the woods armed with a rifle before deputies arrived.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris DeGase says he believes several people helped Huff elude being captured.

Huff is facing charges of domestic assault in the first degree involving serious physical injury, armed criminal action, kidnapping and unlawful use of a weapon.
