Ozark County and the cities of Gainesville and Theodosia are seeking a new emergency management director. Brett Meints resigned his position effective June 28th.

Meints was named to the position in May 2016 after former director Wally Reeves retired. In an email to the Ozark County Times, the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department and Ozark County fire department chiefs, Meints said his reason for resigning is “personal and private.”

Meints is originally from Hardy. He spent over 30 years as a firefighter, paramedic and instructor for firefighters and emergency management services in Wisconsin before retiring to Thornfield in 2015.

Meints stated in his email he will continue to respond as a firefighter and first responder with the Thornfield Volunteer Fire Department.
