Two people from Marion County, 29-year-old Joshua Deery of Flippin and 32-year-old Jill Cowart of Yellville, have been arrested after they were found undressed in a reported suspicious vehicle along Mayfield Lane in Flippin.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Monday, a caller advised the Marion County Sheriff’s Office July 3rd of a black SUV traveling toward the dead end street and not returning. The vehicle had been spotted earlier behind a shed in the area without reason.

Deputies located the vehicle parked in the lane of travel on Mayfield, with its lights out on the oncoming side. Inside the vehicle two subjects, later identified as Deery and Cowart, were found undressed.

Both parties originally provided false identities to officers. After confirmation of her actual identity, officers determined Cowart had an oustanding warrant. Deery continued giving conflicting information concerning his identity. He was later identified by the jailer who recognized him as Deery. He was found to have outstanding warrants and was listed as an absconder with the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections.

Officers located a clear liquid in a needle believed to be methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a .22 caliber single shot rifle in the vehicle.

Deery was charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by certain persons, meaning he is a convicted felon. He also faces a misdemeanor count of obstructing governmental operations. His bond was set at $25,000.

Online jail records indicate Cowart was charged with a misdemeanor count of failure to appear.
