Heather McDaniel, who attempted to prevent law officers from entering her home on June 21st in an apparent attempt to hide her boyfriend and drugs inside the residence, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with five to serve and five suspended.

According to the probable cause affidavit, deputies from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections had gone to a home in the Midway area last month to conduct a compliance check on McDaniel, who was on probation from a drug-related conviction handed down in February.

The 31-year-old McDaniel is reported to have eventually come out of the house about 45 minutes after officers first attempted to gain entry. The lawmen then discovered Ryan Kinsley, identified as McDaniel’s live-in boyfriend, was also in the house.

He was eventually found and taken into custody along with McDaniel. Kinsley was given a 20-year prison sentence during Thursday’s court session on a long string of crimes contained in six separate criminal cases. The state dropped two additional cases.

Neither McDaniel nor Kinsley would give officers the combination to a small metal safe found in the home. It was forced open after a search warrant was obtained. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the safe.

McDaniel pled guilty to charges of hindering prosecution and possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia.
