A Marion County woman, 29-year-old Annalisa Berry of Yellville, made her first appearance in Marion County Circuit Court July 18th following her arrest earlier this month after she was left at a motel during a domestic incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Flippin Police responded to the domestic incident along Marion County Road 7064. The mother of Berry’s boyfriend told officers the Yellville woman and her son had left en route to a local motel.

The two were located at the motel, with one officer escorting Berry to his vehicle where he checked the Arkansas Crime Information Center and learned she is a parolee with a search waiver on file. Berry told the officer she and her boyfriend had broken up, he had left her at the motel and no rooms were available.

As the conversation continued, the officer noted Berry was not wearing shoes. She advised they were in her luggage, with the officer directing her to put them on. The two police officers conferred, and Berry’s boyfriend was allowed to leave for work, since the domestic incident had only been verbal.

When the officers continued to talk with Berry about where she would be going, a glass smoking device was observed sticking out of her pocket. When asked about the pipe, Berry reportedly began crying, saying it was not hers and her boyfriend must have placed it there.

Berry repeatedly told officers she did not have any other illegal items in her possession. However, as officers threatened to search her five bags with a red laundry basket on top of them, they observed a tan fabric pouch. Inside were two more glass smoking devices, with white residue, and a bag with a white crystal-like substance.

After arriving at the Marion County Detention Center, a further search of Berry’s property revealed another glass smoking device and other items of drug paraphernalia containing trace amounts of methamphetamine.

Berry was charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $5,000, and she is set to re-appear for arraignment in circuit court on August 15th.
