Wesley Bryan Dickerson, who was shot and wounded by his brother in 2014, will now undergo a psychological evaluation as part of the case against him filed after he threatened to shoot at other member of his family.

The latest violent incident to occur among Dickerson family members occurred at Wesley Dickerson’s residence along Sheid Road in Norfork May 22nd.

Baxter County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the residence to investigate reports of a violent domestic confrontation involving firearms.

When deputies arrived, they found a number of people in the front yard. The people yelled at the deputies and told them to take cover because there was a person inside the house with a rifle.

The wife of Wesley Dickerson told deputies her husband had been drinking and had gotten into an altercation with Daniel Dickerson. She said when the fight broke out, there were children present, but family members came to the residence and removed the youngsters from the property for their protection.

In addition to having firearms pointed at him, Daniel Dickerson had a bloody cut across his face where he was struck by a cane.

Wesley Dickerson’s wife told officers she had tried to break up the fight between Wesley and Daniel Dickerson. She said Wesley Dickerson had shoved her down, punching her in the face several times during the altercation.

After getting information from the victims, deputies moved the people from the front yard to a safer area behind the a barn.

All parties on the scene told deputies they had seen Wesley Dickerson point weapons at the people gathered outside the residence multiple times. They reported a male coming out of the house staggering and carrying a bag of weapons. The male subject –later identified as Wesley Dickerson — was reported to be slurring his speech.

Wesley Dickerson was alleged to have told the deputies he was involved in the family altercation, but to the deputies nothing else Wesley Dickerson said made much sense.

Deputies took control of Wesley Dickerson, the weapons he was carrying and placed him under arrest.

It began during an incident in 2014 when it was Wesley Dickerson who was shot by a relative – his younger brother Charles Ray Dickerson. According to court records, Wesley Dickerson had come to his brother’s home to see if a fairly long-lasting dispute between the two brothers could be settled. Instead, Charles Dickerson ordered his brother to leave and threatened to shoot him didn’t comply. Deputies said evidence at the scene showed Wesley Dickerson was sitting in his truck about 30-to-40-feet away from where the shot was fired. The blast damaged the truck’s door frame and shattered glass, while striking Wesley Dickerson in the face and upper body. The injured man was able to drive himself to his home off Sheid Road and from there to seek more medical attention.

Charles Dickerson was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading no contest to the charges filed against him stemming from the shooting of his brother, Wesley. At one point, Charles Dickerson was shown to be in inmate in the North Central Unit of the State Prison System at Calico Rock. He is no longer shown on the prison log, meaning, most likely, he has been paroled.
