UPDATE: Female apprehended, male suspect still at large in Fulton County

UPDATE:
Authorities are believed to have apprehended a female suspect who was a part of an active manhunt following an officer involved shooting that occured around 9:30 Friday morning outside the city limits of Salem. The male suspect is still at large, and is considered armed and dangerous.

According to Areawide Media, the officer involved in the shooting, Fulton County Sheriff Al Roork, is reported to be okay.

A release from the Arkansas State Police states Sheriff Roork and a deputy attempted to make contact with an individual, who then ran to his vehicle, started it and attempted to flee.The release further states Sheriff Roork fired his weapon in an attempt to stop the individual, who was driving toward the sheriff and deputy.

A search for the male suspect is still being conducted in the Mammoth Spring/Thayer and Oregon County area, with assistance from Baxter County law enforcement, including the department’s helicopter, along with the Arkansas Department of Correction’s K9 team.

It was last reported the suspect could possibly be driving a late 90’s model, beige Chevrolet 1500 extended cab in Missouri. The original vehicle involved in the incident was reported to have been a tan Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable and could possibly have been recovered when the female was found.

The male suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
