The cause and origin of a Thursday night fire at an unoccupied Northern Hills residence could not be determined. The fire destroyed the single-story structure on Franklin Avenue.

According to Mountain Home Fire Marshal Captain Gary Pyszka, the department was called to a report of the fire just before 11:00 Thursday evening. The first engine arrived with the structure heavily involved. The fire was reportedly coming through the roof and rear portion of the residence, and the structure was completely engulfed. Personnel stretched multiple hose lines to begin extinguishing the fire. A second engine arrived, and its personnel hooked to a hydrant and laid a five-inch supply line to the first engine. A rescue and ladder truck then arrived with support personnel, and the fire was brought under control within an hour.

Crews were on the scene approximately four hours.
