An ordinance designating the Marion County Sheriff’s Office as the operator of the 911 Public Safety Communications Center for the county is among the items on the Marion County Quorum Court agenda Tuesday evening at 6:00.

As a part of the designation, the 911 coordinator position will be incorporated into the command structure of the sheriff’s office, separate from the jail, as a supervisor of 911/dispatch. The coordinator will report directly to the sheriff or his designee. The sheriff’s office will assume operations as the designated operator of the 911 public safety communications center by September 1st.

The quorum court will also consider a resolution concerning rehabilitation of a runway at the Marion County Airport. The resolution authorizes the Marion County Regional Airport Commission to seek grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics to fund a runway rehabilitation and a wildlife assessment. The total estimated cost of the projects is $167,718.

These items are all part of a 14-item agenda when the quorum court meets at the Marion County Courthouse.
