JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Missouri’s public safety director is stepping down.
Gov. Mike Parson on Friday announced Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden’s last day will be Aug. 31st. Missouri Highway Patrol Superintendent Col. Sandra Karsten will serve as acting public safety director.
Parson’s predecessor, former Gov. Eric Greitens, had picked Juden for the job. But Greitens resigned June 1st after months of controversy. He faced possible impeachment, a now-dismissed felony charge for invasion of privacy against a woman and numerous campaign fundraising irregularities. Parson previously served as lieutenant governor and took Greitens’ place.
Parson said he would keep Greitens’ cabinet. Juden is the first to announce plans to leave.
Juden previously oversaw the police and fire departments for the southeastern Missouri city of Sikeston.
