FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) _ The Fort Smith Police Department says they are
searching for a man suspected of stealing police equipment, including two guns,
and a police badge from an officer’s personal vehicle.

Authorities said Thursday a handgun, a semi-automatic rifle, a tactical bag with at least one magazine and a badge were stolen.

The items were taken on Aug. 17th when the officer’s pickup truck was parked in a hotel parking lot near the police station. Police say a man who may have been wearing a red jacket and been in a white car was observed checking car door handles.

The officer’s name hasn’t been released pending an administrative review. Fort
Smith officials say they are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information
about the suspect and the crime.
