Yellville man accused of killing uncle, grandfather

A Yellville man has admitted to the shooting deaths of his uncle and grandfather. According to Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans, 32-year-old Donald Beckwith, Jr., was arrested Saturday night and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 6:45 Saturday evening from an individual reporting a shooting nearly ten miles south of Yellville on Arkansas Highway 14. Deputies arrived at the residence and found the bodies of two individuals on the front porch deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Beckwith was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the sheriff’s office where he admitted to shooting both individuals during a physical altercation. In addition, a weapon suspected of being used in the shooting was found and taken into evidence.

Beckwith is currently being held in the Marion County Detention Center without bond as he awaits his first appearance in Marion County Circuit Court.

The names of the victims have not been released.
