Heath Lindsey of Norfork was sentenced to five years in the Arkansas Department of Correction during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court last week after admitting he had violated the terms and conditions of his probation in an earlier case involving threats to his in-laws.

The 30-year-old Lindsey was given five years probation in March after pleading guilty in a case in which he was charged with barging into the home of his in-laws and threatening his father-in-law with a handgun.

According to court records, a Baxter County deputy sheriff was called to a residence on Ainsworth Lane on Christmas Eve 2016 in response to a domestic disturbance call. The deputy was told Lindsey had pushed his way into the home of his in-laws and pulled out what was described as a long black pistol. He was then alleged to have put the weapon to his father-in-law’s head threatening to kill him.

Lindsey was eventually made to leave the home. He was arrested at an apartment complex in Mountain Home.

In the 2016 case, Lindsey faced charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member and, because he forced his way into the in laws’ residence, with residential burglary.

When Lindsey was sentenced in the case involving the threat to his in-laws, 14th Judicial District Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kerry Chism said the relatives did not want to prosecute Lindsey, but the state chose to proceed with the case. Chism told Judge John Putman the plea would make Lindsey a convicted felon, making it illegal for him to be around firearms.

Chism’s statement proved prophetic. According to the petition to revoke his suspended sentence filed in June, Lindsey was charged with violating the terms and conditions of his probation by being a felon in possession of a firearm.
