A Cotter man, 35-year-old Bradley Caster, has been sentenced to a year of probation for violation of a domestic order of protection following an incident in May 2017 when he was alleged to have fled the home of his ex-wife and evaded law enforcement.

The sentence came last Wednesday in Marion County Circuit Court. Following a negotiated plea to felony counts of residential burglary, along with misdemeanor counts of fleeing, criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a minor, violation of an order of protection and having an expired driver’s license, were nolle prossed or dismissed.

According to the probable cause affidavit, law enforcement was dispatched to a possible breaking or entering in progress at a home in Flippin. The officer was advised while en route to the scene Caster had left the residence and backed into another vehicle in the driveway in the process.

The officer spotted Caster’s white pickup as he was approaching the residence. He turned his patrol unit around and attempted to stop Caster’s vehicle. With the patrol unit lights activated, Caster’s vehicle moved toward the patrol unit but drove around the officer.

The officer turned his vehicle around in pursuit of the Caster vehicle, as it traveled two blocks further before stopping at a residence on Fifth Street. At the home of a “friend,” Caster was taken into custody.

Caster’s former wife told the officer she heard a loud crash and her ex-husband screaming “Kevin” outside her home. She said she was able to get to the back bedroom before Caster entered the residence. Once inside, he began to pound on the bedroom door. A friend staying at the residence yelled to Caster, and he left.

The front door of the home had marks appearing to be from a fist and a shoe to force entry. The inside frame of the door was shattered, with markings on the inside wall indicating a door was opened in a violent manner. A coffee table was overturned, and the door where the woman was hiding had visible damage to the top right corner. A 6-year-old child was also at the residence.
