Jason Chorba of Mountain Home was given six years in prison, with three to serve and three suspended, during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday after pleading guilty to stealing a motorcycle.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the motorcycle was reported stolen from an apartment complex in August. After the theft was reported, two Mountain Home police investigators saw a male riding a motorcycle similar to the one stolen and stopped it.

The motorcycle did not have a license plate and was roughly painted a flat black, with some blue and white showing through. The driver was later identified as the 40-year-old Chorba.

Officers noted the ignition switch had been broken and wiring spliced to start the engine.

Chroba initially told officers he had purchased the motorcycle from an unnamed friend. He later changed his story and admitted he had taken the motorcycle from the apartment complex.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Chorba said he had taken a number of prescription pills intended for controlling anxiety and panic attacks at the time of the theft. He said he remembered taking the motorcycle, but claimed his memory was cloudy on details.

In addition to the prison time, Chroba was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.

It is not Chorba’s first brush with the law related to a stolen vehicle. In early 2007, Chorba admitted to law officers he had stolen one vehicle and tried to take another in an effort to escape drones chasing him.
