LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ Federal officials say an Arkansas man has been
indicted on assault and firearm charges after he allegedly climbed over a post
office counter and fired multiple shots in the direction of an employee.
U.S. Attorney Cody Hiland said Wednesday Stephen Gregory Potts was charged with one count of assaulting a postal service employee and two federal firearms counts.
Authorities say Potts initially appeared to be filling out a mailing label at
the post office in Conway on Saturday. After employees stopped him from walking
through a workroom door, he allegedly pulled out a gun, climbed over the counter
and fired five or six shots, barely missing a supervisor.
Potts is in federal custody and court records say he does not yet have an
attorney who can speak for him.
