The City of Bull Shoals is preparing for the upcoming construction of a new state-of-the-art wastewater collection and treatment system. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 1:00 at the city’s current facility at the end of Golf Course Terrace. The new system will set adjacent to the current facility.

Bull Shoals Mayor David Nixon says the city has been in need of a new system for some time.

Mayor Nixon says the main concern is raising enough funds to pay for the construction project.

The remaining $3 million needed to fund the project is through a 1 percent sales tax approved by the voters in May of last year. Construction is expected to be completed in about a year, and the new system will serve all citizens within the Bull Shoals city limits.

One concern citizens may have with the construction project is the damage the heavy equipment may cause to the city streets. Mayor Nixon addresses that concern.
