FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP)   A jury in northwestern Arkansas has found a man guilty of murder in a woman’s beating death.

A Washington County jury returned the verdict on Friday against 49-year-old Mark Edward Chumley, who was accused of the Aug. 19, 2015, death of 24-year-old Victoria Annabeth Davis.

Prosecutors say Davis was held captive in her home, tortured and beaten by her husband, John Davis, and four other people, including Chumley.

John Davis pleaded guilty earlier this year to a murder charge in the case as part of a deal in which he was sentenced to 37-years in prison.

A sentencing hearing for Chumley is scheduled on Monday. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Chumley’s first trial in May was declared a mistrial after a witness mentioned that Chumley was a convicted felon.
