Another possible hepatitis A exposure in northeast Arkansas

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) – Officials say a food service worker at Arkansas State
University who also volunteered at the Jonesboro Salvation Army has tested
positive for hepatitis A, the latest in an ongoing outbreak in the northeast
part of the state.The Arkansas Department of Health says anyone who ate at the ASU Reng Student
Union dining hall or at the Salvation Army between Oct. 13th and Oct. 24rd may have been exposed to the virus. The university says the employee worked for a food service vendor and is no longer working on campus.

Northeast Arkansas has been hit by an unusually severe hepatitis A outbreak,
with 178 cases and one death confirmed since February. Symptoms of the
contagious liver disease include fever, nausea, fatigue and jaundice.
