Fulton County judge falls to challenger

Fulton County will have a new judge in 2019. Incumbent Democrat Darrell Zimmer lost his re-election bid to Republican challenger Jim Kendrick. Kendrick ended up with 52 percent of the votes, and Zimmer finished with 48 percent.

Burton Yarnell was one of two Democrats to win a race on the Fulton County Quorum Court. Yarnell was elected Justice of the Peace for District 3 with 54 percent of the votes over Republican Gene McBride with 46 percent.

Johnny Moody was the other Democrat to win a JP race in Fulton County. Moody will represent District 5 with 61 percent of the votes. Republican Randy L. Wilson gathered 39 percent.

The other two JP races were won by Republicans. Ray Matthew was the victor for District 7 with 56 percent of the votes. Democrat Tesa Bishop Nelson fell short with 44 percent.

Charles R. Kendrick was the other JP winner on the Republican ticket. Kendrick will head to the Quorum Court for District 9 after he secured 60 percent of the votes. Jimmy Marler ended up with 40 percent.

There were also three city races in Fulton County, and all were in Mammoth Spring.

Charles Vaughn squeaked out a five-vote win in the mayoral race. Vaughn garnered 51 percent to beat Jean Pace with 49 percent.

Adam Davis won the Ward 1, Position 1 race on the Mammoth Spring City Council with 55 percent of the votes. Davis topped Wilma Rogers who had 45 percent.

The Ward 2, Position 1 race was captured by Frankie Joan Baker with 57 percent of the votes. Baker defeated Carla Parnell with 43 percent.
