An area high school student with Muscular Distrophy has created a program he hopes will assist others facing similar challenges. According to Springfield television station KOLR, 14-year-old Omaha High School sophomore Parker Stroebeck has invented a virtual physical therapy program.

His project is possible through a technology program titled “Education Accelerated by Service Technology” (EAST), in which students are encouraged to use critical thinking and creative problem solving in real life situations. Stroebeck says pairing therapy with the program makes it more enjoyable, and he hopes his invention will help make life easier for M.D. patients.

Stroebeck’s co-laborer is fellow Omaha High School student Zachary Caputo. He says the the amount of movement Stroebeck has in virtual reality is amazing, and he hopes their invention can become more than a school project.

Stroebeck and Caputo are looking to enter their project in the EAST Conference at Hot Springs in March.
