A Searcy County woman, 54-year-old Carla Henson of St. Joe, has been arrested following a family disturbance in which she allegedly placed a knife at her daughter-in-law’s throat, told her to sit down and not move or she would “gut her like she did the dog, Caesar.” Henson has been charged with felony counts of terroristic threatening, aggravated residential burglary and second-degree battery.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, law enforcement responded to an active aggravated residential burglary at a residence along Fan Tail Road in Saint Joe Sunday morning. Dispatch advised the suspect had gained entry to the residence, stabbed a dog, and assaulted a male.

A female at the residence told dispatch she was able to push the suspect out of the residence, while her husband held the door closed. She then identified the suspect as her mother, who was accompanied by her brother-in-law. After being removed from the home, Henson allegedly could be heard on the 911 recording breaking a back window of the camper home.

When deputies arrived on the scene, a locked gate with a chain blocked their entrance. The female caller was unsure if Henson was still in the area and was afraid to open the gate. Based on the alleged severity of the incident, the patrol unit ran over the gate.

A second woman at the camper home, Henson’s daughter-in-law, told the deputies she had opened the door thinking it was her husband returning, when Henson entered and the alleged incident ensued.

The officers observed a large amount of blood from the camper to the front porch, with aggressive dogs attempting to charge them throughout the interaction with the family, leading them to request the animals be placed inside the home.

Officers departed to a residence along South Woolum Road in St. Joe, where they met Henson and observed an abrasion on her leg and later her eye. They asked to see the clothing she had been wearing earlier in the night and learned it had already been washed.

She maintained her son-in-law had hit her with a bat. Without prompting, she blurted she did not stab the dog. Again without prompting, she allegedly said she did threaten to choke her daughter-in-law because she chose the wrong side.

Officers returned to the scene where they took Henson’s son-in-law, 48-year-old Sid Richardson, into custody on a warrant from Boone County. He reportedly told officers he did not hit Henson with a bat and showed them where she allegedly hit him with an object later determined to be a chainsaw chain.

Henson was later arrested. The knife was not recovered, and the St. Joe woman denied the allegations.
