SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) – A driver has been charged with first-degree murder after a fatal hit-and-run in Springfield.

Authorities say 46-year-old Elizabeth McKeown, of Springfield, also has been charged with armed criminal action in the death of 57-year-old Barbara Foster.
It’s unclear whether McKeown has a lawyer. She remained in Greene County Jail Thursday.

Police say McKeown drove away Tuesday evening from the scene but crashed into a vehicle a few blocks away, where witnesses helped hold her for officers.

A court document says McKeown told officers she was in a hurry and had gotten annoyed sitting behind Foster’s vehicle in traffic. She says she ran into Foster’s vehicle “full out” after nudging it. The document says McKeown then rammed into Foster when Foster got out to check the damage to her car.
