Pedestrian hit, killed on highway in Boone County

A Newton County man was killed Saturday morning after being struck while walking on a highway in Boone County. According to the Arkansas State Police, 40-year-old Jed Baldwin of Jasper was pronounced dead at the scene on Arkansas Highway 7 between Harrison and Marble Falls.

An SUV was traveling southbound on the highway when it came upon a pedestrian walking in the lanes of traffic. The SUV struck the pedestrian, later identified as Baldwin. The driver was not injured.

Weather conditions were clear, but the road was wet in the 6:27 a.m. accident.
