A Marion County theft case dating back to 2014 has resulted in a Boone County man being sentenced to one year of probation.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 44-year-old Lance Hardman was arrested and charged in 2017 after a Marion County resident reported the theft of numerous items missing from his farm. The items included parts from several air conditioners and two large aluminum walking planks.

Officers were able to obtain photos from a scrap metal business in Harrison showing Hardman selling the missing items.

Hardman was arrested in April 2017 and charged with a felony count of theft of property, as well as a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass.

Online court records indicate through a negotiated plea last month, Hardman’s charges were reduced from the felony theft charge to a Class C misdemeanor count of theft of property. The state opted to nolle pros or drop the original misdemeanor count of criminal trespass.
