Foreigner’s Kelly Hansen & Mick Jones with Shriners Children’s Choir (Shriners Hospitals for Children)
Foreigner has been traveling across Canada this winter on their Cold as Ice Tour, and prior to the band’s show tonight at Montreal’s Place des Arts, longtime multi-instrumentalist Thom Gimbel will visit a local Shriners Hospitals for Children facility where he’ll spend some quality time with the kids there.
Gimbel’s appearance will take place at 1 p.m. local time at the Montreal hospital. The musician, who’s also a chess master, is planning to challenge some of the children to a game while there.
Foreigner has had an ongoing relationship with Shriners Hospitals for Children. The group recently released a new version of their classic 1984 ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is” that’s helping raise funds for the organization.
The new rendition features backing vocals by a choir made up of patients from Shriners Hospitals for Children. Foreigner singer Kelly Hansen and guitarist Mick Jones recently filmed a companion video with some of the kids. The track and video are available now as digital downloads, and the song also appears on a recently released album titled Foreigner Live in Concert.
All proceeds raised by the track, the video and the album will be donated to Shriners Hospitals, a nonprofit that provides advanced care for kids with various health issues. Visit ShowThemLove.org for more information.
Foreigner’s Cold as Ice Tour winds down on March 17 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, after which the band has a number of U.S. shows lined up late March through late June. Foreigner then will head to Europe for a variety of gigs in June and July. The group has additional North American concerts in August and September.
