(AP) – Seven people were wounded in an extended shooting
spread out across a few Kansas City blocks.
Police spokeswoman Capt. Stacey Graves said in a statement that officers
responded to a report of shots being fired at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday in south
Kansas City and arrived to see people shooting at each other. Graves says one
officer opened fired due to safety reasons.
She says officers also saw people firing at one another from vehicles near the
initial scene.
Graves says six people were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds and one
person is in critical condition. A seventh person said he was shot by police and

Graves says the officer who fired his weapon is on administrative leave, and
