AXS TV to Air “Guitar Gods” Marathon Featuring Premiere of 2007 Eric Clapton Concert Film

Courtesy of AXS TV/Special Treats Production Company Ltd.The high-def network AXS TV will celebrate some of the rock world’s most lauded musicians during its “Guitar Gods” marathon, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 17. The programming block will culminate with the television premiere of Eric Clapton Live in San Diego, a new concert film documenting a March 2007 show that Clapton played at the iPayOne Center.

Live in San Diego, which airs at 9 p.m. ET, features the British guitar master performing with his touring group, which at the time included Allman Brothers Band slide guitarist Derek Trucks, and joined on several tunes by Eric’s friend and collaborator JJ Cale.

AXS TV’s “Guitar Gods” marathon gets underway at 1:30 p.m. ET with an episode of Guitar Center Sessions featuring a performance by and an intimate interview with Joe Walsh, followed at 2:30 p.m. by the 2016 documentary The Allman Brothers Band: After the Crash.

At 4:30 p.m., AXS TV will air Cream: Farewell Concert, a movie capturing the historic 1968 farewell show Clapton’s old band played at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Then, at 6:10 p.m., the network will screen Eric Clapton: The 1970s Review, a documentary delving into the first decade of the guitar legend’s solo career.
