Dr. Melinda Moss, former Superintendent of the Harrison School District, recently accepted a position as Superintendent of Joplin Schools, according to the Harrison Daily Times. Her official start date isn’t until July first, however she has already began work in the position.

Moss was one of two finalists chosen for interviews to replace Dr. C.J. Huff who announced his retirement in May. The Joplin Board of Education announced Tuesday they had unanimously voted to hire Moss.

Dr. Moss had been with the Harrison School District since 2007 and their Superintendent since 2010. Dr. Moss received her Doctorate from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri and her Master’s Degree from Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri. She has a BSBA in Finance and Banking from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Her contract is for three years with a base salary of $180,000.

Joplin Board of Education President Jeff Koch says they were pleased to welcome Dr. Moss to Joplin Schools and community as the next superintendent. The schools and students will be in great hands.
