(AP) – A southwest Missouri jury has convicted a 41-year-old
Springfield man in the 2014 death of a 21-year-old man.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that Brian S. Jones faces up to a life
sentence for his conviction Wednesday in the death of Charles J. Cortez, who
authorities said died from gunshot wounds after a drug deal.
Jones was also convicted of armed criminal action, which carries a minimum
sentence of three years in prison.
His sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 2.
