Rich Robinson's New Band, The Magpie Salute, Releases Video Tribute to Late Keyboardist

Courtesy of The Magpie Salute; Matt SterlingThe Magpie Salute, the new group formed by ex-Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson with some of his former band mates, has released a new video paying tribute to the band’s late keyboardist Eddie Harsch.

The clip, which premiered Thursday on Yahoo! Music, features footage of Harsch talking and rehearsing, then shows him and The Magpie Salute performing “Comin’ Home,” a song Eric Clapton co-wrote with Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett.

In the clip, Harsch shares how he feels about fans who appreciate his music. “That would be the highest accolade,” he notes. “If somebody felt like I felt when I listened to other people when I was a kid, if I can make other people feel like that about the music that I’m playing or I’m a part of, it just doesn’t get any better than that.

The video was filmed in August 2016 at Applehead Recording studio in Woodstock, New York, where Robinson has recorded a number of his solo albums.

“This recording came from the last time I got to play with Eddie Harsch,” Robinson says of the video. “He was my friend and musical teacher. His mastery and subtlety will forever be an inspiration. RIP Eddie.”

Harsh, who died in November at the age of 59, was a member of The Black Crowes from 1991 to 2006.

Among the members of The Magpie Salute are ex-Crowes guitarist Marc Ford, bassist Sven Pipien and backing singer Charity White

The Magpie Salute has four sold-out shows lined up at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City, on January 19, 20, 21, and 22.
