Rick Diamond/Getty Images for IEBANo more head games. Original Foreigner singer Lou Gramm has walked back an earlier statement and confirmed he will indeed appear on select dates on Foreigner’s 40th Anniversary Tour this summer.
Regarding the tour, Gramm tweeted an announcement Monday evening, writing, “After 24 hours of some crossed wires and miscommunication, I can confirm that I and the rest of the original band have been invited to join Foreigner for a song or two at any show during this 40th anniversary year. Dennis Elliot and Rick Wills will be in St Augustine, FL on 2/24. Ian McDonald, Al Greenwood and I will perform on a date yet to be determined.”
Sunday, Foreigner lead guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones told Billboard that fellow surviving original band members Gramm, McDonald and Greenwood would be making guest appearances on select dates of the trek.
Gramm originally posted a message on Twitter Monday morning denying his involvement: “I Have Not been asked to Join Any Part of the SUMMER 40th FOREIGNER ANNIVERSARY Tour 2017,” he wrote.
The band’s 40th anniversary will feature fellow jukebox heroes Cheap Trick, along with special guests Jason Bonham and his Led Zeppelin Experience tribute group. The trek gets underway on July 11 in Syracuse, New York, and is mapped out through a September 9 concert in Auburn, Washington.
