A Gamaliel man is being sought by the Baxter County Sheriff on felony charges following the recent investigation of an armed robbery at a Cotter liquor store. Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says a warrant has been issued for 47 year old Dennis Roam who is wanted for possession of drug paraphernalia and drug scales, possession of methamphetamine and marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a felon, furnishing a deadly weapon to a felon, being in proximity to certain facilities and as a habitual offender. Bond for Roam has been set at $100,000.
The sheriff says during the investigation into the armed robbery at Bayman Beverage Wednesday night, probable cause for a search warrant at Roam's Gamaliel residence at 133 Scouts Drive was executed by officers from the 14th Judicial Drug Task Force, Arkansas State Police, Cotter Police Department and Baxter County Sheriff's Office. Montgomery says the search was the result of a multifaceted investigation where Roam was involved in the sales and distribution of illegal drugs and firearms, one which was used in the robbery of the liquor store.
During a search of Roam's residence and outbuildings, numerous firearms were recovered along with syringes, scales, baggies used to distribute meth, pipes used to ingest meth and a plastic bag containing 2.2 ounces of marijuana. Also recovered were tools, firearms, car titles and other items believed to be payment for contraband illegal items.
Among the items found at the Roam residence was a car title registered to Alexandria Rodriguez for a vehicle used in the Bayman Beverage robbery. Rodriguez was arrested Thursday night with Joshua Cooper in connection with the robbery. During a search of the vehicle, about 5.2 grams of methamphetamine was found and during questioning of Rodriguez and Cooper it was learned they had purchased meth from Roam.
According to the sheriff, Roam's lengthy criminal history includes burglary, at least one conviction of three counts aggravated assault and a year of incarceration.
Additionally, the property line of his residence is shared with a Gamaliel church, which brought the additional charges of proximity to certain facilities.
The firearms recovered at the Roam residence are believed to have been stolen during a burglary at a Mountain Home residence that is currently under investigation by the Mountain Home Police Department, according to the sheriff, who says additional charges against Roam are likely.
The search for Dennis Theodore Roam is active and anyone with information is asked to contact the Baxter County Sheriff at 425-7000 or call 911.
