The Mountain Home High School basketball teams begin the second half of district play on Friday. It’s Sweetheart Royalty night as the Bombers and Lady Bombers welcome Batesville to the Hangar.

Mountain Home’s girls are currently 12-8 on the season, and they hold sole possession of first place in the 6A/5A-2 at 5-1 as they come off a 16-point victory over Searcy on Tuesday. Batesville trails the Lady Bombers by a half game at 16-4 and 4-1 after handing Beebe its first district loss. Mountain Home is looking to avenge its 41-40 loss to the Lady Pioneers on January 3rd.

The Bomber boys are 7-12 overall and 3-3 in the district after beating Searcy three nights ago. Batesville’s last game, a loss to Beebe, dropped them to 2-14 and 0-5. Mountain Home began district play nearly three and a half weeks ago by edging out the Pioneers 49-48 in overtime.

The junior varsity games tip off at five p.m. The varsity contests begin around 6:00 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Elsewhere in the 6A/5A-2, Beebe hosts Greenbrier, and Morrilton entertains Vilonia.
