The Izard County Invitational Tournament came to an end Saturday at the Harold Ray Jeffrey Gymnasium in Calico Rock as the championship trophies were awarded.
Izard County took the senior girls’ title as they defeated Melbourne 55-32. Kennedy Cooper led the Lady Cougars with 20 points. Izard County improves to 25-5 on the season.
Izard County did not fare as well in the senior boys’ game as they lost in the final to Cave City 53-48. The Cougars fall to 25-9 on the year.
The junior boys’ championship went to Mammoth Spring as they got past Izard County 33-29. The Junior Bears were led by Chris Cray with 13 points, and Zack Flynn added 12. Mammoth Spring’s record is now 14-4, and the Junior Cougars drop to 16-5.
The evening began with the junior girls’ game as the title was won by Melbourne. Calico Rock fell to the Junior Lady Bearkatz 53-24.
