Students from Mountain Home, Norfork, Cotter, Flippin, Yellville and Calico Rock are invited to the Career Expo which will be held at three location on the high school campus; the lobby of Dunbar Auditorium, the main gym lobby and the auxiliary gym.

Nearly 30 different local businesses will be represented as well as schools who offer certifications, training and apprenticeships in electronics and plumbing. ASU-Mountain Home will feature their welding, automotive, HVAC and mechatronics programs; graphic design and web development; business, accounting, finance and hospitality; networking, programming and mobile development as well as funeral science, criminal justice and health sciences. Ozarka college will bring representatives from their culinary arts and aviation programs, North Arkansas College will feature their program for surgical technicians, the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith will have a representative from their paralegal program and The Beauty School in Mountain Home will be represented.

Gatewood says there are many positions for those with a skilled trade, and the purpose of this event is to help students become aware of those career opportunities and the required training needed. She says high school students and their parents need to understand these non-traditional options and consider them as potential careers.

Reservations are not required for this event which is free and available to all local high school juniors and seniors as well as their parents.
