Norfork girls, Izard County boys finish 2nd in state bowling tourney

The Classes 3A/2A/1A State Bowling Tournament was held Tuesday at the Conway Family Bowl, and two area teams fell just short of capturing the first place trophies.

Norfork's girls were the runners-up with a total of 2,725 as they were edged out by 28 pins by Maumelle Charter. The Lady Panthers' top bowler was Montana Grieve with a 395 series, Kailey Payne rolled a 392 series, a Macy Dillard had a 369 series.

Izard County took second place on the boys' side with a total pin count of 3,511, and Norfork ended up third as they were 26 points behind the Cougars. The state championship was captured by Mayflower. The Panthers had two All-State selections as Caleb Moser finished fifth individually with a 541 series, and Zach Helm was tenth after shooting a 521 series. The Cougars were led by All-State team member Drake Gallion with a 538 series.
