Courtesy of AXS TVA new concert special featuring a 2016 performance by Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and his current band, The Sensational Space Shifters, will get its televison premiere this Sunday, March 5, on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The show captures Plant and his group playing a headlining set at David Lynch‘s Festival of Disruption, an immersive multimedia experience curated by the film director that took place last October at the Ace Hotel and Theatre in Los Angeles.
The intimate concert included reworked versions of such classic Led Zeppelin songs as “Black Dog,” “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” and “Whole Lotta Love,” plus renditions of tunes from Plant’s latest solo album, 2014’s Lullaby and…The Ceaseless Roar.
Festival of Disruption was a two-day benefit event that featured musical and dance performances, DJs, discussions, art exhibits, virtual reality displays, film screenings, meditation sessions and more. Proceeds from the fest went toward the David Lynch Foundation, which provides Transcendental Meditation education programs to domestic-violence victims, veterans suffering PTSD, at-risk young people and others.
“Throughout the history of rock, few artists have been as influential and enduring as Robert Plant,” says AXS TV executive Evan Haiman. “This incredible concert showcases the music icon at the top of his game, putting his signature vocals and effortless charm on full display as he blazes through an expansive set list that will satisfy both die-hard fans and curious newcomers, alike.”
