Tuesday's state results include Norfork routing Concord

The Norfork High School girls' basketball team began action in the Class 1A State Tournament in dominating fashion. The Lady Panthers routed Concord 77-32 Tuesday night at Mount Ida.
Norfork controlled the game from beginning to end as the Lady Pirates' score didn't get into double digits until there was 1:16 left in the first half. The mercy rule was invoked the moment the fourth quarter started, and the Lady Panthers went on to post the 45-point victory.
Marleigh Dodson and Kelcy Acklin led Norfork with 21 points each. The Lady Panthers improve to 40-1 on the season, and Concord's year ends at 22-12.
Norfork will return to Mount Ida Friday evening at seven to face the winner of Thursday's game between Kingston and Ouachita.

Also on the girls' bracket, Jasper watched its season come to a close. The Lady Pirates were eliminated by Wonderview by a final of 40-33.

Izard County's boys were able to advance to the quarterfinals as they pulled away in the end for a 62-51 victory over Mineral Springs. The Cougars were led by Taylor Reynolds with 26 points, Justus Cooper scored 19, and Tanner Brooks added ten. Izard County is now 34-9 on the year, and their next game will be Friday night at 8:30 against either Jasper or Bradley.
