
Fly fishing enthusiasts from throughout the region and across the country will be convening in Mountain Home Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the 20th annual Sowbug Round-Up at the Baxter County Fairgrounds. Sponsored by the North Arkansas Fly Fishers, the event attracts over 100 fly tying experts from around the world who will be demonstrating the art of fly tying and giving lessons and seminars, according to Tommy Hagan, an event organizer.

Doors are open each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with admission for all three days at $5 per person. On Saturday there will be a number of events and activities for children, says Hagan.

In addition to classes in fly tying, experts will demonstrate fly casting techniques.

This is the main fundraising event of the North Arkansas Fly Fishers who will use the proceeds for the ten to twelve thousand dollars in college scholarships they award each year and other projects of the organization.

The Mountain Home Booster Club will have food available for purchase each day.
Representatives from organizations associated with fly fishing and vendors will also be at the Sowbug Round-up including Friends of the North Fork and White River, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and North Arkansas Fly Fishers.
