Big Machine Label GroupCheap Trick‘s latest studio effort, Bang Zoom Crazy…Hello, was released just over a year ago, but power-pop legends already have plans to issue another brand-new album. It’s titled We’re All Alright! — a nod, of course, to the band’s classic hit “Surrender” — and it will hit stores on June 16.
The album is available for pre-order now via a just-launched PledgeMusic campaign. You can also pre-order it from other online retailers beginning May 5. If you do, you’ll instantly receive free downloads of first single, “Long Time Coming,” and another tune, “Lolita.”
The hard-driving “Long Time Coming” premiered Thursday on Billboard.com. You can also hear it on Cheap Trick’s YouTube channel.
“It’s our interpretation of Slade and MC5 and AC/DC and Aerosmith — a lot of riffs that are reminiscent of The Move, but they’re not steals,” guitarist Rick Nielsen tells Billboard about the new track. “It’s just, like, all the bands we like.”
We’re All Alright! was co-produced by Cheap Trick and the group’s longtime collaborator, Julian Raymond. The album features a combination of new songs and older, previously unrecorded tunes. The standard CD version of the record contains 10 tracks, while a deluxe edition features three extra tunes, including a cover of The Move’s “Blackberry Way.” We’re All Alright! will be released on vinyl on August 18.
Cheap Trick’s PledgeMusic campaign is offering a variety of special bundles including posters, T-shirts, set lists, lithographs and other collectibles, as well as a personalized video message from the band.
The group will support We’re All Alright! with a worldwide tour that includes a previously announced joint summer trek with Foreigner and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience.
