ParlophoneThe latest installment of David Bowie‘s 40th anniversary limit-edition vinyl singles campaign, a seven-inch picture disc featuring “Be My Wife” on its A side, will be released on June 16. The song was the second and last single from Bowie’s 1977 album Low that was released in the U.K., although it didn’t chart.
The second side of the disc features a previously unreleased live rendition of another Low track, “Art Decade,” which was recorded during a November 1978 concert in Perth, Australia.
Two different images of Bowie appear on either side of the picture disc, both of which were taken by photographer Christian Simonpietri in Paris in June 1977.
Meanwhile, another limited-edition vinyl Bowie single will be made available starting on May 26 exclusively at the Design Museum of Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain, in honor of the opening that day of the “David Bowie Is” exhibit at the facility. The disc will feature Trent Reznor‘s “V1” remix version of David’s 1997 single “I’m Afraid of Americans” on the A side and a rare live acoustic rendition of “Heroes” that was recorded in 1996 at Neil Young‘s Bridge School Benefit Concert.
The single will be pressed on red vinyl and will come packaged in a sleeve featuring photos of Bowie taken in Mexico City in October 1997 during his tour in support of the Earthling album.
